Hi guys, this is my first thread so let me to introduce myself. My name is Michael and I'm living in Slovakia. I love cars, especially those with attractive design. My favourite car is a BMW e60 with M packet, which I hope to buy one day :) But until then I want to model one in 3D to myself. Unfortunately a shapes of bmw is very difficult to model in my opinion, especially for a beginer like me. So after finish a tutorial of Audi R8 by Andre Kutscherauer, I decided to make another one by myself, Audi also, but this time a A5 coupe version. It's harder than I thought but I don't give up.
I must add that in start were very helpful pictures and tutorial videos from The Rain Knight's site. And here is some simple pictures of my progress. Any C & C are welcome.

PS: I don't know how often I would be able to upload my progress because I'm using a trial and error method, but I will do my best.

hi guys,

a few days ago I was forced to start from the very beginning. From my last update I was working on a rear part of a car over and over again, but without succes. This part is really tricky to make and even now I still have no idea how to do it. Maybe I could continue with something easier like a roof with windshield, car shoulder, side windows and leave a rear part for later. Here is the current state: back.jpg front.jpg zebra 1.jpg zebra 2.jpg

Your zebra's look very smooth. Thanks for sharing your CV's! I mean we ask poly modelers for their wire frames, why don't we ask nurbs modelers for theirs ;) Yeah that back seems like it will be really tricky good luck! This will render out awesome i think.

Nice zebra and your patch layout looks good. If i had to say something ;), i think the part behind the back wheel is too curved, your path get in too much, it should be more soft (in my opinion ;) ). Nice work, keep it up

PS: I still can't attach files to my answer :/
hi j8ight, thanks for your effort and support :) ... you're probably right about that part. I take a look at it, when I get to home from work. It's too bad that I did not found any good detailed images of this car part. Some reference images may be a little bit confusing ... for instance at a picture below it seems, that is curved much more ...

Hi neutron1k
You're right, it depends on the viewing angle. In your photo it looks more curved that i thought. But if it curved, i think this part should be treat with more smoothnes. I think it should not be so hard to change it because your cv's looks clean. I modeled the audi A4 few years ago, and i remember that i had some difficulties with this part :D. Keep it up!
Do you know this website? http://www.netcarshow.com/audi/2012-a5_coupe/
This site provides some good photos. I hope it could help you ;)

thx mate, I know this site, but even there are not so detailed images of what I need. I also remodeled the part to which you pointed out, but I don't know if is now more accurate or not :)

It's been awhile from my last update. During this time I was working on rear part, which was so far the hardest, but I'm going to have to rebuild it because i don't like a surface reflections which I have.

Here is what I have so far:

love it ! glad to see you mastered the tricky areas like the C pillar ! Keep it up ! finishing the rear will be piece of cake, front bumper may be a little bit difficult but other than that you're really good at it !
